Change is in the air....

I love fall. It brings change. Change in color, in our mood, ahhh in my life. So the kids are getting bigger every day. Wyatt is reading like crazy and demanding to be called a second grader (even though he is actually in first grade). Jack has become quite the artist and so thoughtful. He drew me a picture for my breast cancer fundraising, just because. Chris is on his way to two fire/medic interviews in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both of them have living requirements. The good thing about that is that my grandmother and aunt live in Concord and my best friend lives in Vacaville where the second interview is this week.

The Breast Cancer walk. This is where I start my fundraising. I will be taking some family pictures this fall to start the $$$ rolling in. I charge $60 and take 25-40 pictures in a beautiful outdoor setting and give you the pictures on disc to reproduce yourself. $25 goes to my walk. I also ask that instead of buying me a gift (from my friends and family who normally share gifts) you just donate to my walk. I am hoping to walk in two cities this year, San Francisco and New York. I wish I could walk in them all but it is not possible with the children the age they are and us being so upside down in where we will be living by next summer. The problem will be raising not just money ($1800 each walk) but raising the money to travel and stay in these cities and enjoy myself. Thankfully I will be participating in mini-walks sponsored by Starbucks this year to raise 1/2 the required money. Mini walks are held at local Starbucks and leaving every hour from 8am on a 3 mile walk. There are four 3 mile walks for every mini walk I do. I'm so excited. Did I mention that we raised over $5 million last year in SF!!! There were over 2,300 of us participating too. Every year it gets bigger. Every year we raise more money and every year we are closer to a cure.

Ahh more change. We are actually going to go on a vacation this spring. Chris works so hard that we don't see each other as much as we'd like. We need to go somewhere together, away from laundry, TV, the computer, cell phones, etc. I can't wait to go to Disneyland. Kelli and I started a girl tradition of taking a 3 or 4 day girl trip each year. Last year was a wonderful trip to Napa with Spas and late night movie trips (we saw Brokeback Mountain and now have too many inside jokes to ever mention in public blogs). It was AWSOME!!! This year is Las Vegas. Chris and I will be going to Las Vegas too. I would really like to go to Yosemite too though. My goodness, I guess I will have to think about this a little more. So I will be saving my "change" for those slots. LOL.

Wow, you have lots of trips planned, I'm jealous! Hubby and I haven't taken a trip since I was pregnant with Sophia, or the summer of 2003.

I won't be able to do the SF walk -- it is the day of my 30th birthday and I'm pretty sure there's going to be a big party. My mom turns 50, hubby turns 40, and me 30, all within a month next summer, should be fun. I was hoping to do the walk so I could have a reason to do my "required" 2+ mile daily walk, so maybe I will just pretend or something.

Oh yeah, and I need your email address, girl! Email me at dianepenna at gmail.com. :)
